When it comes to selecting custom kitchen cabinets for your home or bathroom, you have a choice. Many consumers are not aware of the option to have cabinets designed to meet your kitchen or bathroom space. And find themselves shopping at a Big Box store like Lowes or Home Depot. Not a bad choice, but most likely not the best product you can buy.
There are differences you might like to learn, when comparing Custom Kitchen Cabinets vs Pre Fabricated cabinets.
Custom Kitchen Cabinets vs Pre Fabricated
Typically, the pre fab cabinet (aka “box”) is normally made out of particle board. Which is scrap wood that can swell when it gets wet. Doors are also typically glued together with a paint grade wood. In some cases you can upgrade from 1/2″ to 3/4″ plywood, for an additional cost and longer production time.
When you purchase pre-fabricated cabinets, you will find yourself screwing 3 – 5 cabinets together to make a wall of cabinets. These can twist and pull depending on the walls, making it a challenge to level things out, for the counter top.
At Carolina Woodworks, 3/4″ plywood cabinet construction is standard, no need to upgrade. Our team will review drawings and even do an onsite inspection if necessary, to confirm drawings are correct. This allows us to build your custom kitchen cabinets (or bathroom) as a complete unit or structure, making it stronger. Making for a better installation for the cabinet and your countertop manufacture. No need for a bunch of shims for leveling.
Our cabinet construction is top shelf. Which means instead of simply glueing and nailing the boards together, our cabinets are glued and pocket screwed together. Our drawer boxes are made with 5/8″ Maple, glued and dovetailed, interlocking to make a very solid drawer box.
Hardware is an option often over looked. Most prefabricated cabinets do not come with soft close doors and drawers. While your Carolina Woodworks custom cabinets come standard with Blum drawer guides and hinges. Which means a LifeTime Warranty and known to be top class hardware in the industry.
There are so many small, yet significant differences when it comes to choosing Carolina Woodworks Custom Cabinets vs Pre Fabricated cabinets. The last and most noticeable would be the paint finish.
